For a sensitive person, hair loss can be devastating. A person that is desperate for a solution will try to locate a product that can really help. Provillus has been marketed aggressively as a real solution for hair loss. Who makes it, what are the ingredients, and how does it work?
The goal of this review is to assist you with your search for an effective hair loss product by providing unbiased information.
Who manufactures and sells Provillus?
Provillus is a company that was founded in 2002 and is a member of the Natural Products Association. They have a good reputation in the health and beauty market and sell the product from the main website. This product is also sold through several other websites including Herbal Gen, Bowtrol, Revitol, and Healthybuy.com. The main website, www.provillus.com, provides detailed information regarding the health and safety of the product.
What is in Provillus?
Provillus is a natural supplement that is designed to be taken twice daily, before meals. There are two distinct products, Provillus for women and Provillus for men. The active ingredients include nettle root, saw palmetto, biotin, zinc, vitamin B6, and uva-ursi (bearberry) The women’s formula includes two additional ingredients; horsetail and magnesium.
How does Provillus Work?
Based on the information found on the Provillus website, the product “aggressively seeds the scalp”. This creates an optimum environment for hair growth. The website also states that the formula supplies hair follicles with necessary nutrients that are “required to bring damaged, dead hair follicles back to life”.
It works in two distinct ways.
1. Provillus effectively inhibits the formations of Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT is a by product of testosterone that is know to retard growth in the hair follicles. This causes the hair growth phases to shorten, result in male patter hair loss or Androgenic Alopecia.
2. Provillus provides the necessary nutritional hair building blocks with vitamins and minerals that are known to positively effect the immune system, nail health, and hair follicles.
What are the negative aspects of Provillus?
It could be nothing more than a mistake by the text provider, but its hard to understand exactly how dead hair follicles can be revived and brought back to life. It may be easier to understand if we were watching a science fiction movie. If it is important to you to use products that have been approved by the FDA, then this is not the product for you. Not only has the product not been approved by the FDA, but we could find no evidence of clinical trials or that any external studies have been performed. Additionally, there is no mention of success rates on the website.
What are the positive aspects of Provillus?
Many people are willing to use products that they believe in even if they don’t have FDA approval. There are a number of natural remedies that have resulted from use over generations, and Provillus is really no different. Horsetail has been used with success for centuries to treat hair loss, with evidence that it was originally used by the Greeks. Next, the Romans used it and its use spread to the North American Indian and Asian cultures for its rejuvenating qualities.
